Dave Stark –New Listings fewer in 2011
Stark Company Realtors President Dave Stark discusses the low number of new listings in January 2011 in his most recent blog post. Single family listings for the month of January over the past 3 years has been as follows:
2009 – 535 listings
2010 – 629 listings
2011 – 505 listings
If you recall, in January 2009 our economy was in economic free fall–the country was in a state of shock and the stock market had colapsed. In 2010, there was a tax credit that spurred the housing market and we saw a big uptick. What the number means for 2011 remains to be seen. It will probably be good for sellers, as there will be less competition. As Dave points out, reducing inventory is a good thing for the market as it will help prices recover. Read Dave’s post here:
